2011 100+ Reading Challenge

Message from MyOverstuffedbookshelf.blogspot.com

*This challenge is usually hosted over at J. Kaye's Book Blog, but I haven't heard anything from her about hosting it.

As of today, I have read and reviewed 278 books for 2010.  I have many more to post before the finish date of December 31, 2010.  I know that I will be able to finish this challenge next year, but I am challenging you to beat your 2010 record this year! Can you read over 100 books this year?
DETAILS:
1. The goal is to read 100 or more books. Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate. Posting on GoodReads or wherever you post your reviews is good enough.

2. Audio, Re-reads, eBooks, YA, Manga, Graphic Novels, Library books, Novellas, Young Reader, Nonfiction – as long as the book has an ISBN or equivalent or can be purchased as such, the book counts.

What doesn't count: Individual short stories or individual books in the Bible.

3. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.

4. Crossovers from other reading challenges count.

5. Challenge begins January 1st thru December, 2011. Books started before the 1st do not count. You can join at anytime.

6. When you sign up under Mr. Linky, put the direct link to your post where your books will be listed. Include the URL to this post so that other viewers can find this fun challenge. If you’d prefer to put your list in the sidebar of your blog, please leave your viewers the link to the sign up page. Again, so viewers can join the challenge too.

Off The Shelf Reading Challenge

2011 Off the Shelf Reading Challenge

I have so many books overflowing my two book shelves. And these book shelves have lots of room (2 rows of mass market books lain flat, stacked on top of each other. For my hardbacks/trade, they're 2 rows standing up.... 7 shelves. Plus, I have other books laying flat on top of my hardback/trade books). So, it's about time to start pecking away at them.

And here's the challenge to do it:

Off The Shelf!

Off The Shelf Challenge

Are your books multiplying like rabbits before you even get a chance to read them? Trying to keep up with them, but can't stop buying new ones?

Maybe this challenge is for you. I know what it's like. There's so many titles and so many beautiful books out there sometimes it's hard to keep that TBR shelf under control, but if you really want to try why not challenge yourself?

The challenge begins on the 1st of January and ends on the 31st of December 2011

Note: This challenge is to read those books you own copies of, but have never got around to reading. If you don't have many that you own, but have a massive TBR shelf you're welcome to read those ones as long as you don't add new ones. You don't need to actually get rid of your books after you've read them, this is just to read them.

How To Participate

-Decide which challenge level you'll be doing (further below) - do not include books that you buy from the start of this challenge.

-Grab the code for the badge down below and post it on a side bar or in a signature (if you want to participate, but aren't blogging, on a social network or forum - Submission For Non Bloggers).

-Create your own post to let all your readers know you’re taking part in the challenge and at what level (if you're really proficient you can list your books!). Make sure to link back to this page with either one of the buttons or a text link..

-Use the link form below to enter into the challenge by sharing your challenge post url and your name (either your name, blog name, or both). Please don't use the comment form to participate, only to comment on the challenge or something else..

-Submit your reviews (if you choose to review them, but that is optional) on the review page.

-When you’ve completed you’re challenge let us know on the completion post. If you're using a tag or category I recommend sharing the link back to that so everyone can find them

-Challenge Levels

2011 Show Me the Free Reading Challenge

My husband will appreciate this one. So will my bank account!

Here is how it works:

•Should you choose to participate in this challenge, your goal is to read at least twelve (12) legally obtained e-books which you got for FREE for your e-reading device. While twelve is the minimum there is no maximum limit.
•Anyone can join. You don't have to be a blogger, and you don't have to live in the United States.
•Any E-Reader will work for this challenge, including: iPad, Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Sony Reader, enTourage.
•Please Note: If you don't have an e-reading device, you can still join in with Amazon's Free Kindle Reading Apps which you can download for your iPhone, iPad, Mac, PC, Blackberry and more.
•The challenge runs from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011. You can join at anytime.
•e-books in ANY genre count for this challenge as long as it was FREE at the time that you downloaded it.
•Every month in 2011, I will make a post for the Show Me The Free Reading Challenge so you can link your reviews.
•Those that link their reviews will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win a different prize each month, such as an Amazon or Barnes & Noble Gift Card, a bookmark, or a GelaSkins for your E-Reader. Winners will be announced at the end of each month.

Challenge Guidelines:

•If you blog, create a post announcing your participation in the challenge. Please include a link back to this post.
•Non blogger must publish reviews on some type of public domain such as Goodreads, Shelfari, LibraryThing, Amazon, or Barnes & Noble to enter the monthly giveaway.
•When you post your book review, you MUST say how you obtained the free read. Please make your source clear.
•You can list your books in advance or list them as you read them.
•Crossovers to other reading challenges is acceptable, but galley e-books DO NOT count. Again, this is a Reading Challenge to read as many of the FREE e-books legally offered for your e-reader. To get started, check out the Top 100 Free books on Amazon, or the Free e-books on Barnes & Noble.
•Any linked reviews that do not meet the guidelines will not be entered into the monthly drawing for the prize of the month.

Levels:

Coupon Clipper: 12 Books
Penny Pincher: 24 Books
Super Saver: 30+ Books

click this link to sign up for The Undead Reader's Challenge

I will probably only be able to do the Coupon Clipper but try to for Super Saver, since life changes may either take away all the free time I have for reading or it'll give me so much more time (hoping for the latter, obviously). Plus, I have over 1500 other books I'd like to read. I wish I was joking... But I have a list, and it keeps raising.
